The main challenge for the architects on this project was creating a sacred place of worship in the middle of Southern commercial suburbia. The church is located near car dealerships, a Wal-Mart and a liquor store. They chose a simply constructed design and used white corrugated siding to give the church a look that recalls Southern clapboard churches of the past. Placing the structure on a hill and surrounded by a sloping green lawn, the setting sun bathes the side of the church in golden light. Inside, a carefully placed baffle and windows let light into a vaulted-ceiling room that holds a congregation of 35.
